Political discussionIs it me or has lying become a social skill?
To say you believe in freedom you must first define freedom for the sake of understanding. Without understanding there can be no mutual respect. To ask someone if freedom is important to them may be harder than you think . (5th response 4th paragraph)

It stands to reason that freedom may be the biggest issue in the world at present. As only the lack of understanding is required to qualify it as an issue. It is the foremost understood topic available. More often than not, it is touted as a given that people find freedom important. Yet to look at it at face value, beliefs in and of freedom vary. But never is the initial response to the question of freedoms' personal importance beyond reproach. Or is it?

There are 19 results for the definition of freedom from just one source. There are multiple variations of peoples perceptions of reality when you look deeper than mere reflexive response to the question of freedoms' importance.

I always understood freedom to be "the ability to do whatever you want in life without affecting another persons freedom." It has been an algorithm in my life. I believe it to be the purest definition available to mankind. It was taught to me by my high school civics teacher who lived through seemingly the worst of the IRA "war" era.

Today the two biggest lies seem to be the politics of freedom and the politics of change (to supposedly provide freedom). The suggested common denominator is politics. I therefore hypothesize that lies = politics as lying appears to be prerequisite regarding any promise of freedom or change from politicians. We are promised freedom and change (in the guise of more freedom) and are delivered less of each.

Politicians have a directive that they refuse to follow. It is an oath to a document dedicated to freedom. It has a name but I dare not mention it for fear of the ensuing labeling.

I find it very unfortunate for mankind that the general perception of freedom doesn't equate to the truth. Being called on in the public eye to be held accountable for your deeds or words should not be characterized as being impolite as lying is insulting. Impoliteness is excusable, insults are not.

Politicians speak for the people but who do they lie for? Freedom ?
